Kahuna has been in the business of producing wellness products since 1997.
They have a very good reputation when it comes to massage chairs, and the Kahuna SM 7300 does not disappoint.
The SM series of chairs were designed to accommodate a large range of body types, including heavier and bigger body figures.
And don’t worry, even though it was designed to include wider builds, the SM-7300 still fits the average body type perfectly without feeling like the chair is too big.

The Kahuna SM 7300 includes a host of amazing features and comes with an affordable price point.
Features
48” SL Track Technology

The SM 7300 48” track length allows the rollers to follow the curvature of the spine from neck to lower back and to extend down to the buttock area.
In addition, acupressure points have been placed on each of the rollers. These help to increase blood flow and further intensify the massage effect.
It would be nice if the rollers were able to completely take care of the hamstrings, but, unfortunately, the rollers only go about halfway down the hamstrings.
6 Wheel Roller System
While most massage chairs on the market today have a quad roller system, Kahuna has taken this a step further with this model.
The Kahuna SM 7300 comes with a cutting-edge 6-wheel roller system.
While quad rollers have been shown to do a good job of mimicking the feel of a massage therapist’s hands, the extra 2 rollers allow for a massage that is much better than what you get with quad rollers.

Smart Body Scan
To give you a more customized massage, The Kahuna SM 7300 utilizes a smart body scan.
Before beginning the massage, the rollers will move up and down the back to determine your height. This will help to adjust the rollers to give you a customized massage.
Designed for Larger Body Types
Width

Do you find it difficult to shop for massage chairs because you are wide in the shoulders and/or hips?
Well, there is a good reason for this.
Take a look at many of the massage chairs on the market.
You will find the average shoulder width to be around 20-21” and the average hip width to be around 17-18”.
The Kahuna SM 7300 adds around 3 more inches to the hip and shoulder area, with the shoulders at 24” and the hips at 21”.
Height & Weight
Have you had difficulty finding a massage chair because you were just too tall or too heavy to fit in them?
Again, when you look at most massage chairs, they are designed for users up to around 6’ and have weight limits between 250-285 lbs.
The Kahuna SM 7300 has an extendable footrest that can extend out 12”, allowing for users up to 6’5”.
The footrest of the massage chair can show signs of wear and tear faster than the rest of the chair. With exchangeable zippered leg extension coverings, you can easily remove and replace them to keep your chair looking like new.

And although it is not the highest rated in weight, it does handle an impressive weight of 320 lbs.
Full Body Air Compression Massage
There are some parts of the body that cannot be reached efficiently with massage rollers. These can be effectively targeted with a good air compression massage.
The Kahuna SM 7300 comes with 32 airbags to provide compression massage in areas where the rollers cannot get to.
The air intensity for the massage is adjustable for 5 levels
Let’s take a moment to see where the airbags are located.
Shoulder Airbags
Airbags located in the shoulder area serve a couple of functions.
First, they hold the body down against the backrest increasing the efficiency of the roller massage.
And during the stretch programs, the body is stabilized to allow for a more effective stretch.

Arm Airbags

Many chairs on the market come with airbags for the arms.
But the Kahuna Sm 7300 has added small little bumps to the fabric covering of the airbags for the arms, called acupressure points.
These are supposed to help in massaging the acupuncture points.
Whether you believe in acupuncture or not, these do help increase the massage effect by providing increased circulation to the hands and arms.
Triple Hip Airbags
The Kahuna SM 7300 has upgraded the hip airbags to a triple airbag system.
This was designed to completely surround your hips and increase the blood flow in the region.
And since the chair is wider in the hip area, those with smaller body frames not lose out on a good hip massage.
Additional air-cells are located in the hip/thigh area which can provide compressions to relieve discomfort in the hips and help with spinal alignment.

Calf and feet airbags

Dual airbags in the calf and feet area surround the sides of the calves and the tops of the feet.
This allows for a full wrap-around massage of the lower legs and feet.
They also help the massage rollers to work more efficiently.
Foot Massage Rollers
In addition to the full airbag compression massage, the Kahuna SM 7300 comes with a unique and advanced massage technology for the feet.
The foot massage you receive is amazing. This is perfect if you are on your feet a lot.
While the airbags hold your feet in place, massage rollers provide 3 different massage techniques to the soles of the feet simultaneously:
- Scraping – targets the ball. The scraping motion helps to improve circulation.
- Rolling – targets the arch. It helps to loosen the skin, release muscle tension, decrease pain and increase flexibility.
- Tapping – targets the heel. Rapid, short-duration taps help to treat soft tissue pain and decrease soreness.

The massage can be a little rough to some, even with the lowest intensity levels. Socks should help to mitigate this issue.
3D Body Scan Technology

Before the start of the manual or auto programs, 3D Body Scan Technology will scan your body.
This is to determine the location of pressure points and the optimal placement of the rollers to ensure the best massage experience.
It will then align the rollers accordingly so you end up with a massage that is personal to your particular body type.
But sometimes the rollers may not be where you want them, but the Kahuna SM 7300 has you covered.
There are buttons on the remote which will allow you to manually position the rollers, including the width, so you end up with the perfect massage for you.
Lumbar Heat
Heat therapy, when added to a massage, has been shown to be very beneficial. Some of these benefits include:
- Improved Healing – enhances the blood flow to the muscles, resulting in faster healing times.
- Quiets Muscle Spasms – by helping to relax tight muscles, spasms will quiet down, and this can help to reduce pain associated with the spasms.
- Less Stiffness – by helping to relax the tight muscles, the soft tissues, including muscles, are more easily stretched, which helps to reduce stiffness.
- Less need for medications – the reduction of pain shown above by using heat therapy will result in you needing fewer pain medications.

The Kahuna SM 7300 comes with a heated back feature. You do have the ability to turn this feature on or off, however, the temperature is not adjustable.
Zero Gravity Position

According to NASA studies, the zero gravity position is one of the best positions to have a massage in.
In this position, the stress and tension put on the spine are minimized.
This helps to increase the efficiency of the massage, leading to a more intense and beneficial massage experience.
Zero Gravity Position advantages include:
- Improved Circulation—enhanced blood flow which can decrease inflammation.
- Loosen Tight Muscles — because the muscles have less stress on them they can relax.
- Less Pressure on the Spine—this leads to a more comfortable massage experience.
- Greater lung capacity – in this position the lungs can fully expand, leading to increased oxygen levels.
- Increased heart function efficiency – with improved circulation, blood flows more easily which allows it to work more effortlessly to distribute blood throughout your body.
The Kahuna SM 7300 comes with one zero gravity position.
In a true zero gravity position, the legs are higher that the heart level.
It does seem that this chair does not achieve this fully with the preset mode, as the legs seem to be a little low. However, the legs can be manually raised as needed.
Easy to Use LCD Remote with 9 Auto Massage Programs

The Kahuna SM 7300 comes with a user-friendly, easy-to-use remote.
The remote is stored on the armrest of the chair.
The wired remote with the LCD screen gives you clear menus that are easy to navigate. Massage time can be controlled for up to 30 minutes.
One weakness with the remote is that the buttons are not illuminated. This makes it hard to navigate when in a darker room. This can be stressful after pressing the wrong button multiple times when it is hard to see.
The Kahuna SM 7300 comes with 5 standard auto programs and 4 specialized programs. These can be adjusted to 3 levels of intensity using the remote.
5 Standard Programs
- Yoga Stretching – Light Stretching to warm and loosen muscles. Designed to eliminate toxins and waste products. Airbags stabilize the shoulders, pushing out your shoulder blades and neck while your pelvis and lower body are tilted and twisted gently. It is great if you suffer from chronic back pain.
- Fast Recovery – Uses sports massage therapy techniques to help muscles flush lactic acid. Uses shiatsu kneading and knocking techniques.
- Pain Relief – Targeted to relieve muscle aches using multiple gentle and soft massage techniques.
- Relaxation – Soft and Gentle massage program uses full body massage techniques to help bring about rapid muscle relaxation.
- Athlete – Aids in recovery of sore and tense muscles. Helps to prevent sports injuries. Great for those who work standing on their feet all day.

4 Specialized Programs

- Office Person – this massage targets the neck and shoulder. Very effective for those who sit hunched over looking at a computer monitor all day long.
- Golfer – massage concentrates on the lower back, hips, and legs. Not only good for golfers but for those who are on their feet for long periods of time.
- Senior Mode – Gentler and comforting overall body massage for those who do not want an intense massage.
- Dynamic Sport – A more intense massage for those who have an active lifestyle and want that fresh start to their day.
No Auto Return
Many massage chairs on the market today have an auto return feature. When the time set for the massage ends, the chair will automatically return to the upright position.
The Kahuna SM 7300 does not auto return. You need to use the remote to turn the chair off, and then back on again, to return to the upright position.
For some, myself included, you may appreciate this feature. It allows you to remain reclined for additional relaxation. Or if you fall asleep during the massage and don’t want to be woken when the chair sits up.
And for others, this may be an annoyance. But considering the many positive qualities of the chair, I would not let this minor issue prevent you from purchasing.
Space Saving Technology
Many massage chairs have to be placed far away from the wall for them to have room to recline.
So if space is at a premium, or you just don’t want your massage chair sticking out like a sore thumb in the middle of the room, you are in luck.
Utilizing an improved space-saving technology, the chair will slide forward while reclining.
Requiring only 3 inches of space between the chair and the wall, you do not have wasted space behind the chair and it can blend in more naturally with the rest of the furniture.

LED Lighting

Located on the side panels of the chair, the Kahuna SM 7300 comes with LED lighting which is supposed to help recreate the ambiance of the massage experience.
Radiating a cool tone of colors, it is designed to create a relaxing atmosphere when used in a dimly lit room.
While some will find this relaxing, others may find it more of a distraction. Unfortunately, you do not have the option to turn this feature off.
PROS

Easy Assembly

Advanced 6 Roller system

Designed to accommodate large range of body types

User-friendly remote control

SL track rollers
CONS

No memory feature so you can save your manual massage settings

No lighted buttons on remote

Heat therapy level is not adjustable

Intensity of foot massage may be too intense for some.

No auto return – as discussed, this may be a pro or con depending on your preference.
To Sum It Up (4.5/5)
Even though the Kahuna SM 7300 is promoted as a chair for those on the tall or wide side, the chair will accommodate all body types/sizes well.
The 6 rollers help to enhance the massage experience to come even closer to an actual masseuse. The addition of the acupressure bumps on the rollers and arm airbags is a nice touch to improve the therapeutic benefits.
Although there is no memory saving feature, if you are happy with the auto programs, then this will not be an issue. Personally, I appreciate the lack of an auto return feature, but if this is a big issue, this might not be the chair for you.
